Chasing Light: A Journey Through the Dolomites

There is a moment, just before the sun crests the ridge, when the Dolomites hold their breath. The rock faces turn from grey to a deep, luminous amber, and every shadow becomes a clean line of black against the stone.

I had driven through the night to reach this pass. The series that would follow began with a single frame taken in that silence. What I had come looking for was not the mountain itself, but the way light falls across its surfaces. The rest of the trip became a study in restraint. Fewer colours, fewer elements, more attention to the edges where light and dark meet.

Working in monochrome at altitude is a discipline. You learn to see in tones, to feel when a composition has enough weight and when it needs only one more shadow to complete it.
